We aspire to be a cathedral for Houston that embodies its diversity, inspires faith, and leads change for the common good of all peoples and communities. In order to do this, we center ourselves around vibrant worship that moves us to Christian faith formation, mission, and hospitality for all peoples and communities.

Vibrant Worship

Each Sunday, we worship together at 8:30 and 11 am, in person and online. All worship services are in a traditional worship style with a sermon based on our scripture readings, congregational hymns, music sung by our choirs, and music played by our organists before and after. We follow the liturgical calendar of the church year with seasons of Advent, Christmas, Epiphany, Lent, Holy Week, Easter and Pentecost, and celebrate Holy Communion during our services on the first Sunday of every month.

Usually once a month, on Sunday afternoons or evenings, we gather for services of Evensong that feature music sung by our choirs. Whether online or in person, we will always be happy for you to join us.

Faith Formation

Growing together in community is core value at St. Paul’s, and we have opportunities to connect with each other and God for all ages and life stages. For adults we have Sunday school classes at 9:45 am. For children, we have weekly Sunday School lessons and children’s choirs. For youth, we have Sunday School, Sunday Evening activities, and other weekly gatherings.

Mission and Hospitality

Love can be shown in a multitude of ways. Whether you have a heart for those experiencing homelessness, becoming a better steward of the Earth’s resources, or assisting in ongoing disaster recovery efforts, we would love to connect with you about our mission opportunities.

ARRIVING AT ST. PAUL’S

The St. Paul's campus is located on four contiguous blocks in the Houston Museum District. The modified English Gothic sanctuary anchors the campus at 5501 Main Street and Binz/Bissonnet, across from the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston.

Parking is free in two lots across Fannin Street from the sanctuary. The addresses for the parking lots are 1131 Binz Street and 5500 San Jacinto Street. The church is within a block of both Museum District MetroRail stops.

On Sundays, a blue welcome tent will visibly guide you from the parking lot to the plaza between the Sanctuary and Jones buildings. The nursery and Children’s Sunday School are located in the Jones Building. Our Adult Sunday School classes take place in both buildings.

WHAT TO EXPECT on Sundays

Attire: You are always welcome to come as you are. The majority of our congregation dresses in business casual or dressy casual for Sunday Services.

Families with Children: If you are worshipping with us in person, we provide childcare for children during both worship services. We encourage you to bring children and youth with you to worship on Sundays.

  • Children’s Sunday School: for ages 3 through 5th grade at 9:45 am. Check in at the Jones Lobby. Children’s Church is available in the 11 am service for those who desire to participate in age-appropriate, biblically-based activities.

  • Youth Sunday School: at 9:45 am for 6th to 12th graders in the Sanctuary Building, 1st floor, Youth Center.

Get Connected

There are many ways to be a part of the St. Paul’s community. As a first step, we invite you to chat with us at the welcome table before or after services. This is a great way to learn more about what life looks like at St. Paul’s and gives us an opportunity to learn more about you as well.

On the second Sunday of each month, you are invited to Coffee with the Pastors, where you can enjoy conversation with the congregation, staff, and clergy over a casual cup of coffee or tea. This time of fellowship takes place on the plaza at 9:30 am.

Discover & Connect is a three-week class held quarterly, exploring the importance of using our spiritual gifts as a means to build up the church and community. In addition to discovering your spiritual gifts, the class discusses the history of St. Paul’s, the United Methodist Church, and our theology and doctrines. Following the completion of this class guests will be invited to join as professing members. To enroll in or learn more about Discover & Connect, please fill out the form below.

Sanctuary tours are held on a quarterly basis. These 30 minute, docent-led tours give insight into the history, architecture, and symbolism of our beautiful sanctuary. At the end of each tour participants are invited to climb the staircase into the choir loft for a short organ demonstration.

If you have any other questions, please contact our Hospitality Coordinator, Sarah Patlan, at spatlan@stpaulshouston.org.

Becoming a member of St. Paul’s means you are ready to make a commitment to follow Christ and to participate faithfully in the life of the church. There are two ways to join the church: by transfer of membership from another church, or by profession of faith and baptism.

Baptism is required in order to join the United Methodist Church. We recognize all baptisms in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit that involve water and are performed by someone authorized by that denomination to baptize. Those wishing to join who have not been baptized can be on the day of joining.

In the membership vows, you promise to participate together with us through your prayers, presence, gifts, service, and witness. Everyone who St. Paul's encounters shapes our community, but only members have entered into this covenant. Your vows are witnessed by the congregation who promises to support you as we grow in faith together.

How do I join?
