The book of Hebrews is not structured like a traditional epistle. It has no salutation, no named author, and no concluding admonitions, but it is still clearly addressed to a particular people, at a particular time, facing a particular situation. Hebrews was most likely written to Jewish Christians facing persecution in Rome. The arguments woven throughout ground themselves in Judaism and seek to give people facing dark times hope. For four weeks in August, we will explore Hebrews 11-13, which are both the most familiar texts in Hebrews and also those that really speak to what it means to have faith when it feels like the world is against you. We hope you’ll consider reading along and joining us on Sunday mornings beginning August 10!
