QUARTET FOR STRINGS
Chamber Music America’s Ensemble of the Year, the Apollo Chamber Players, perform Texas composer Julia Smith’s Quartet for Strings, folk music from Greece and Armenia, and Astor Piazzolla’s Tango Ballet.

ART SONGS AND ARIAS
Artists from the studio of Houston Grand Opera sing some of the most beautiful art songs for solo voice, and operatic arias.

CONCERTOS FOR CHAMBER ORGAN
Organists Christopher Betts and Jim Roman play two of Handel’s most popular concertos for organ, arranged to be played on two pipe organs. Also featuring soprano, Emily Wolfe.

FRANZ LISZT’S SONATA FOR PIANO

Prize-winning pianist Jonathan Mak plays the virtuosic Sonata in B minor by Franz Liszt, and music by Liszt’s contemporaries.

BACH’S BRANDENBURG CONCERTOS

Members of the Mercury Chamber Orchestra, with Emily Amos, harpsichord, play J. S. Bach’s uplifting Brandenburg Concertos No 3 in G major and No. 5 in D major.

MOZART’S CLARINET QUINTET

An ensemble of University of Houston faculty, alumni and students play music for string quartet and clarinet, including Mozart’s exquisite Clarinet Quintet in A major.


THE KING OF KINGS

Organist, David Briggs

Organist David Briggs, artist-in-residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York City, improvises a dramatic symphonic accompaniment to Cecil B. de Mille’s dramatic silent movie “King of Kings” (1927), depicted the life and passion of Christ in a truly moving way. Using the full resources of St. Paul’s grand Schantz pipe organ, this will be David Briggs’ 62nd performance of this amazing work. An event not to be missed.
