Storybook Opera Workshop

  • St. Paul's United Methodist Church 5501 Main St Houston, TX 77004 USA (map)

St. Paul’s Fine Arts Academy presents an interactive storytelling and music experience designed for young children at St. Paul’s, taught by FAA Instructor Sarah Dyer-Jones. The program is built around an original children’s storybook that begins on a hot, humid day in Houston, Texas, where a pigeon named Paul hears music coming from St. Paul’s and dreams of joining the choir.

Through Paul’s journey, children actively participate in vocal play, movement, and simple dance, making the experience engaging, playful, and developmentally appropriate. Interactive elements such as echo singing and call-and-response invite participation while remaining enjoyable for audiences of all ages.

The story also introduces the history and musical tradition of St. Paul’s Church in a light, age-appropriate way, emphasizing community, creativity, and belonging. Cost: $25.
