Sewing Bee: Mittens & Hats for SEARCH and EAC Clients

  • St. Paul's United Methodist Church 5501 Main St Houston, TX 77004 USA (map)

October 11 | Fondren Hall, St. Paul’s UMC | 10 AM–3 PM (two shifts: 10 AM–Noon | 1–3 PM)

This initiative situates our practical response to homelessness within a broader understanding of being sent by God to join in compassionate, tangible work.

What’s happening: In collaboration with the American Sewing Guild, St. Paul’s, SEARCH, Council of Congregations, and the EAC, we’ll produce simple fleece mittens and hats for SEARCH and EAC clients.

How you can participate:

If you sew: Bring your own machine, set it up in Fondren Hall, and lay people will guide you and provide needed materials to sew.

If you don’t sew: There are essential support roles, cutting fleece, organizing the space, preparing materials.

If you’re new to sewing: Beginners are welcome; instruction and support will be provided by the American Sewing Guild.

Bring a brown-bag lunch if you'd like to stay all day; a refrigerator and refreshments will be available.

Needed: Donations of fleece and yarn.
