Children's Music at St. Paul's
Musikgarten (Infants through Kindergarten; call for schedule of classes)
Saint Paul’s offers Musikgarten classes of music and movement for infants through kindergartners. A parent or other adult participates with each child and receives a CD and rhythm instrument to use at home. These classes follow the Musikgarten curriculum, and there is a fee for materials. For information about these classes, contact Ellen Edwards. For more information, visit www.musikgarten.org.
Joyful Noise (Ages 3 through Kindergarten; Sunday mornings from 9:45 to 10:15 a.m.)
Joyful Noise is a children’s worship time primarily focusing on learning and singing children’s worship songs. One of the primary goals of this choir is to build a foundation and love of music and singing. This group often sings for various Sunday School classes at Saint Paul’s. Led by Anna Teagarden.
Wesley Singers (Girls and boys in the 1st and 2nd grade; Sunday mornings from 10:45 to 11:30 a.m.)
Wesley Singers are introduced to the concepts of singing in an ensemble and how to read and understand music, with emphasis placed on music in worship. The Wesley Singers sing special events and services such as the Blessing of the Animals, Palm Sunday, the Children’s Candlelight Service, Holly Hall, and “Sights, Sounds and Smells of Christmas.” Led by Anna Teagarden.
Boy Choristers and Girl Choristers (Grades 3 through 8; attend 11:05 a.m. Sunday worship service and leave the service following the
second hymn to attend Chorister rehearsal.)
Boy and Girl Choristers rehearse separately and sing the same music together for worship services. The Choristers follow the “Voice for Life” program sponsored by the Royal School of Church Music in America. Emphasis is on developing the individual voice and excellence in ensemble singing. Led by Anna Teagarden.
Treble Choir (Girls; ages 10 to 18; Wednesday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.)
This is a select group of girls that are interested in advancing their musical skills, both as individuals and as an ensemble. The Treble Choir rehearses with the Girl Choristers on Sunday mornings in addition to their own Wednesday rehearsals. The Treble Choir sings periodically with the Saint Paul’s Choir throughout the year and on other appropriate occasions. Members of the Treble Choir are highly encouraged to attend a week-long summer choir camp sponsored by the Royal School of Church Music in America. Led by Anna Teagarden.
