He also said, ‘With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable will we use for it? It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade.’ (Mark 4:30-32)

Our soul yearns for the kingdom of God. Jesus told us the kingdom of God is spread out upon the earth, within you, among you and in your midst. People do not see it.  He taught us in wonderful kingdom parables.  The kingdom of God must be unexpected and outrageous in its manifestation. The kingdom of God sown intentionally on the prepared soil of our heart and soul produces the branches of faith, hope and compassion at unexpected times in far greater strength than we can imagine. Birds are sometimes a symbol of evil and here the birds are blessed.  God’s mercy is great

Dear God. By your mercy help us in our weakness. Still our hearts and minds. Prepare us. Let us be the outrageous and unexpected manifestation of your kingdom here on earth. Amen
