Think of us in this way, as servants of Christ and stewards of God’s mysteries. Moreover, it is required of stewards that they should be found trustworthy. (1 Corinthians 4:1-2)
Before I stayed home with my daughters, I had a career in the nonprofit world. Stewardship was a word I heard and used often, so naturally, the word ‘steward’ stood out to me in this passage. In the workplace, our goal was to cultivate relationships with and have continued communication with our donors after they made a donation. But here, Paul calls us a steward of a different kind, one of something much greater.
This got me thinking. Am I stewarding His mysteries? Am I faithfully teaching what I know and telling the story of His love for us to others? Am I cultivating relationships with fellow Christians? Am I growing in my faith so that I, in turn, can educate others and help them grow in theirs as well? God has entrusted us with the awesome responsibility to be stewards of His mysteries, to share His story. What a privilege, what an honor!
Heavenly Father, Thank you for entrusting me as a steward of your awesome mysteries. Help me, Lord, to faithfully teach your truth and your story.
