Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit that is from God, so that we may understand the gifts bestowed on us by God. And we speak of these things in words not taught by human wisdom but taught by the Spirit, interpreting spiritual things to those who are spiritual. (1 Corinthians 2:12-13)

One of my favorite things to do at the end of a long day is to sit at my piano and play The Spirit Song.   The familiar lyrics are a comforting reminder for our need of the Holy Spirit.

Oh let Him have those things that hold you
And His Spirit like a dove
Will descend upon your life
And make you whole.

I believe we need the presence of the Holy Spirit to find meaning and purpose in both life’s exciting opportunities and challenging circumstances.  Even more, it’s the presence of the Holy Spirit that enables us to share our spiritual gifts with our family, friends and neighbors.

Loving God, We pray the words of Charles Wesley: ”The Holy Ghost in part we know, For with us He resides, Our whole of good to Him we owe.”  Amen
