Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, ‘If you continue in my word, you are truly my disciples; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.’ (John 8:31-32)

Words are powerful.  They can inspire, guide, and instruct; they can also hurt, harm, and injure.  My country farmer grandfather had a saying:  "Don't say anything you wouldn't want broadcast over the radio, and don't write anything you wouldn't want printed in the newspaper."  We should remember the power of words and choose them carefully.  We should also choose carefully the words we read and hear.

Jesus' words continue to be some of the most powerful truths we have.  When we study them, and go back to them again and again, the truth resonates through them.

Thank you for the powerful words of Jesus Christ.  Help me to continue in them, return to them, and be taught the truth by them, that I may know the freedom found in them.  Amen.
