For you are a people holy to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you out of all the peoples on earth to be his people, his treasured possession. (Deuteronomy 7:6)

How do you treat your most treasured possessions?  I suspect that you are like me and treat them with love, care, tenderness, and respect.  Perhaps those treasures are so special that you are willing to sacrifice yourself for their protection.  You even may ask others to afford your treasures with the same treatment.  God asks the same of us.  We are God’s treasured possessions.  God treats us with love, care, tenderness, and forgiveness.  God gave Jesus’s life for us that we may live.  God calls upon us to treat each other with love.  God asks us even more – to honor ourselves –God’s treasured possession-- with love, kindness, respect, and forgiveness.  I wonder what our world would look like if we all could live each day honoring ourselves and others.

Dear Lord, thank you for choosing me as your treasure.  I pray that today I live as You ask – that I treat others and myself with kindness, love, and forgiveness.  Help me to see that we are sufficient to reflect Your love and live Your Word. Amen.
