“The LORD is my strength and my might; he has become my salvation” - Psalm 118:14
The writer of our Easter psalm was likely a person journeying to the temple for worship. This pilgrim is like us this day, giving thanks to God in worship and praise for who God is and what God has done. On this Easter day, God has fulfilled the promise made to all to be strength and salvation in this life and the life to come.
From what are we being saved? As one Christian hymn says, it is “fears and doubts (that) too long have bound us.” So this Easter day we join with one another in trusting that God has faced those fears and death itself and has won, has indeed saved us and all the world, and together we rejoice!
Lord, we praise you for the hope we share in Christ. May we be instruments of that Easter hope in the world. Amen.
