“Says the Lord God to these bones, ‘I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live.”
As I think about this chapter in Ezekiel, I can see the bones lying strewn about the desert. I can smell the dryness in the air and feel the heat on my face and arms. I can relate to the bones – sometimes I feel dry and strewn about -- perhaps from keeping up with two little boys, or balancing family and work, or some weeks just trying to keep a pace that seems to move faster each year. Have you ever felt dry or tired or unable to spare one more ounce of energy? God tells us that even when we find ourselves in those moments – God will replenish and restore our souls. What a powerful commitment of love and offering of hope.
Loving God, thank you for your abundant love. Fill me with the breath of life. Replenish my soul so that I may be a light for you unto this world. Amen.
