“Suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint us, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts.”  Romans 5:3b -5a

We have learned over the years that if we walk into the crucible of our suffering and just keep walking....endurance comes as a gift.  It does not usually take away the suffering but can lighten it. The basic truth of this text has been demonstrated to us in our lives and as we walk with St. Paul's folks who are in times of suffering...and yes, character does follow endurance.

As we look at the St. Paul's family...we see lots of characters...stronger because of their courageous willingness to keep going.  Not only does hope follow...but, a sense of God's presence comes...often in the form of a St. Paul's friend who walks with us.  This is hope personified...thanks be to God.
