“He will command his angels concerning you, and ‘on their hands they will bear you up, so you will not dash your foot against a stone.’” Matthew 4:6b
This passage about Jesus in Matthew’s Gospel references Psalm 91, a psalm that assures us of God’s steadfast presence in our lives. What God promises for Jesus, God also promises for us… ‘to bear us up.’
These words have often come to mind over the years as I have experienced the care and education of our own young ones here at St Paul’s. Ellen, Anna, Jane, our child care professionals and volunteers hold our children in their angelic hands, off the stones and borne up before God.
O, God, thank you for your love and protection. Amen.
