About the Foundation
The St. Paul’s Methodist Foundation of Houston is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation established in 1960 for the purpose of supporting St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in its ministries, facilities, and outreach programs in Houston and around the world.
What We Support
Grants | Through its permanent endowment, the Foundation provides grants made to St. Paul’s UMC for maintenance and ministries support, as well as the efforts of local ministries, the Texas Annual Conference, and national and international missions. In 2017, the Foundation made 19 grants totaling $660,347. Learn more about Grants.
Scholarships | Students graduating high school or continuing their college education are encouraged to apply for Foundation scholarships. These scholarships are primarily for church members and youth who are active in the programs of St. Paul’s UMC. In 2016, the Foundation gave 35 scholarships, totaling $86,720. How the Foundation Works
Thanks to the generosity of others, the Foundation receives gifts to general and designated funds, as well as gifts given as honoraria and memorials. The Foundation also helps individuals set up Planned Gifts such as annuities, remainder trusts, and life insurance beneficiary gifts.
One of the major sources of gifts to the Foundation comes in the form of bequests in individuals’ wills. Another giving option comes from individuals who wish to set up named funds for designated and undesignated purposes. Named funds require a gift or pledge of $25,000+, while named scholarship funds require a gift or pledge of $10,000+.
In the Spirit of Blessing
The members of St. Paul’s UMC will continue to be blessed and will continue to be a blessing for others. This is the faith St. Paul’s Methodist Foundation of Houston lives and shares in for all of God’s children throughout the world. We pray that all will join us in being a blessing to others.
