Amazing Place, a day center for adults with mild-to-moderate dementia, is providing a free “Savvy Caregiver” class at St. Paul’s on Wednesdays from September 19 to October 24, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in J-204.
Caregiving, especially for those dealing with a loved one with dementia, is often a new role and requires special skills and knowledge. This class is to help caregivers learn practical skills for managing a loved one with dementia including:
Insights about the changes their loved ones are experiencing.
Coaching to identify solutions for individual issues.
Feedback to assess how things are working between sessions.
Research has demonstrated that caregivers who participated in this program improved their skill, knowledge, and confidence in dealing with their loved one’s behavior as well as reduced their own feelings of stress.
