“Dying well is a dying art,” says Rev. Dr. Jaime Clark-Soles, St. Paul’s Spring 2018 Theologian-in-Residence. Shaped by experiences serving in hospice, Clark-Soles has devoted much of her life’s work to helping people die well.
She will share her insights and address common questions in a free public lecture — Ars Moriendi: The Art of Dying — on Monday, May 7, in Fondren Hall. The lecture begins at noon; lunch will be provided at 11:30 am. Donations accepted.
Clark-Soles is a professor of New Testament and an Altshuler Distinguished Teaching Professor at Perkins School of Theology, where she teaches a course applicable to this lecture’s topic called “Evil, Suffering, Death, and Afterlife.”
For more on this topic, Dr. Clark-Soles suggests Allen Verhey's The Christian Art of Dying: Learning from Jesus (Eerdmans, 2011).
