St. Paul’s Foundation and the Congregational Care team will present a workshop on how to start a family conversation about the many crucial decisions surrounding death. It's a conversation that invites each family member to voice personal wishes around these decisions.

A panel of individuals qualified through professional expertise and/or personal experience will provide guidance to spiritual, medical, legal, and housing questions that arise out of these conversations. Moderated by Rev. Rick Goodrich, Executive Director of the Foundation, the panelists will be:

  • Tonya Knauth, Attorney and member of St. Paul’s Foundation Board
  • Rev. Dr. Charles Millikan, Vice President for Spiritual Care and Values Integration, Houston Methodist Hospital
  • Richard Spaw, Chair of St. Paul’s Congregational Care Team

Each family attending will receive a copy of Planning Guide for End of Life Issues. It provides material designed to continue the conversation begun during this workshop. Appendices include sample Living Will: Directive to Physicians and Family, Medical Power of Attorney, Statutory Durable Power of Attorney, and HIPPA Authorization Form.

The workshop will be Sunday, May 7, from 12:15 to 3 pm in the Fellers Room (S-312). To ensure the appropriate amount of handouts and food, please RSVP for the workshop to info@stpaulshouston.org, and the appropriate number of childcare workers, please RSVP for childcare via childcare@stpaulshouston.org or 713-528-0527.
