Wilson Boots to preach on "Someone's Calling My Name"

  • St. Paul's United Methodist Church 5501 Main Street Houston, TX, 77004 United States (map)

Rev. Dr. Wilson Boots will preach at all three worship services on Sunday, January 15, at 8:30, 9:45 and 11:05 am.

An elder in the New York Annual Conference, Wilson served that conference for 25 years as a pastor in Manhattan and administrator. He spent another 25 years as a missionary based in Bolivia, conducting leadership training in Methodist churches across Latin America and teaching in an ecumenical missionary training center.

In 1992, as Interpreter for the Encounter with Christ Fund, which his wife Nora Quiroga Boots was instrumental in creating within the Global Mission Board, Wilson provided leadership in developing it to now over $2 million. The fund extends community-based health care into rural communities as one of its many priorities. It also supports evangelism, new church development, and meeting the needs of women, children, and youth.

In 2014 their son, Marc Boots, gave the St. Paul’s Foundation a generous gift to establish the Wilson and Nora Boots Fund for Methodist Mission in South America to support St. Paul’s partnerships in Cochabamba, Bolivia. At the end of 2014, it stood at $251,304.

Wilson holds an M.Div from Vanderbilt University and a Ph.D. in Ethics and Latin American Studies from the American University, School of International Studies. He and Nora are members of the Connections Sunday school class here at St. Paul’s.
