A Prayer Vigil of Lament and Hope

  • St. Paul's United Methodist Church 5501 Main Street Houston, TX, 77004 United States (map)

Pastors are planning for the liturgy of the Prayer Vigil of Lament and Hope to last about 20 minutes. Please feel free to linger if you would like and walk the labyrinth, but for anyone interested, there is also the City of Houston Candlelight Vigil at 7:30 p.m. at City Hall.

Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Hear our prayer for healing and peace in Orlando and around the world. Hear our prayer for the victims of this act of fear and violence, their families, and those who love them. Lord Jesus, you say to pray for our enemies so, hear our prayer for this one who committed these acts of horror and bring redemption.

We lament the culture of fear, misunderstanding, and hatred that surrounds us. Draw us together in your Spirit, that despite our differences, we would find oneness in You.

God of Love, we know you are looking with sorrow and pain on our fearful world. Let your healing work flow through us that we might be mighty peacemakers and those who bring unfathomable hope because of your saving grace.

Hear our prayers in Jesus' name. Amen.
