Throughout March, St. Paul's is collecting items to help refugee families get settled in Houston. These will be taken to Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston.To assist with this project, please place any of these items in the barrell at the Plaza entrance to the Sanctuary:
- Room and Board. Rental assistance, Grocery gift cards ($35 increments),
- Housewares. Bed sheets (full or twin only), Blankets (full or twin only), Pillows, Shower curtains. Lamps (table or floor), Small, free-standing shelves, Bath towels and washcloths, Alarm clocks, Brooms and dustpans
- Kitchenware. Cookware (pots and pans), Dinnerware (plates), Bake ware and mixing bowls, Cutlery (knives, forks, spoons), Cutting knives, Stirring spoons (wooden or plastic), Serving utensils, Drinking glasses, Can openers
- Miscellaneous. Televisions, Microwaves, Computers (less than 4 years old), Books
In addition to the items on the list, checks will be accepted, written to St. Paul's UMC with "Refugees" on the memo line.
Donations will be accepted during March and delivered after Easter. Volunteer drivers also are needed to deliver to Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston, just down the street from St. Paul's at 3303 Main.
In the future, St. Paul’s will partner with IMGH to build relationships with particular families to help them feel at home in the city. More information about IMGH refugee services.
