For more than 30 years various groups of St. Paul's United Methodist Church Houston have provided or administered scholarships to students pursuing higher education. Most of these scholarship funds were established to memorialize or honor others. Some of the scholarships are restricted to application for specific majors or attendance at a certain college or type of institution; other scholarships are unrestricted.
Gradually, these scholarships have come under the administration of St. Paul's Methodist Foundation of Houston. Donations to any of the scholarship funds may be made at any time, and new scholarship funds may be established. The current total of funds is 16 -- seven restricted and nine unrestricted. Scholarship money is distributed only from earnings of the individual funds. The principal remains intact.
Recipients are selected annually by the Foundation's scholarship committee. Most funding requires membership in or affiliation with St. Paul's United Methodist Church Houston.
Scholarship applications for the 2016-17 academic year are now available:
The deadline for submission of completed applications is February 15, 2016. Recipients will be notified by April 15, 2016.
