The Youth will lead worship at all three services on Youth Sunday, February 8. Every aspect of the services from the readings and witnesses to ushering will be conducted by the youth. Most of the 2014 Youth Sunday participants are in the photograph above.
The Choral Scholars, a choir of select high school students that normally sings at the 9:45 service, will be joined by the Treble Choir for all three services. Individual youth instrumentalists also will take leadership roles.
A St. Paul’s tradition for at least 15 years, Youth Sunday is one of many ways that St. Paul’s Youth serve throughout the year.
“This is one way the Youth give back to their church community,” said Tiffin Wilsford, St. Paul’s Director of Youth Ministries. “We ask all youth to participate in some way during one of the services. Every role is important. They take this responsibility seriously, rehearsing the weekend prior.”
The senior high students will conduct the 11:05 service, the middle school students the 9:45 service, and students of all ages the 8:30 service.
The Tubbs Youth Center is home to more than 200 youth in grades six through 12 throughout the week in one or more opportunities for mission, service, worship, study, or recreation.
Recent and ongoing examples include last fall’s Sleep Out for Covenant House to raise awareness of youth homelessness, participation in poetry-writing workshops conducted through the Artists-in-Residence program, week long residencies at mission work trips or Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) training courses, and the upcoming Mission in Motion triathlon to get fit and raise funds for the mission trips and RSCM scholarships.
The Youth will celebrate Sunday evening with a trip to Speedy's Fast Track on Hempstead Highway. All Youth and friends are invited. $10 covers go-carts, laser tag, and mini-golf. Questions? email@example.com.
