Pecan orchards and magnolia trees surround the Varner-Hogg Plantation, an antebellum mansion built of bricks from Brazos River mud. The interior is furnished with Ima Hogg’s early American antiques.

The Salt and Light group will visit this beautifully preserved State Historic Site in West Columbia and other nearby attractions, such as the first capitol of the Republic of Texas, the Capitol of Texas Park and the Stephen F. Austin statue by David Adickes, with Salt and Light on Friday, March 20. 

Cost for plantation tour is $4. Lunch will be at a local restaurant.
