Ways to Respond to Refugee Needs in Houston and Beyond

  • St. Paul's United Methodist Church 5501 Main Houston, TX, 77030 United States (map)

With the recent refugee crisis in Europe and the Middle East, many are asking “How can I help?”

Houston is the number one refugee resettlement city in the country, and the Refugee Services department of Interfaith Ministries for Greater Houston (IMGH) helped resettle more than 1,200 refugees last year alone. Their work is conducted in conjunstion with the U.S. State Department, Episcopal Migration Ministries, and Church World Service.

IMGH provides many avenues for helping make this possible. these include sponsoring a refugee family, employing refugees, volunteering, and donating — cash, furniture, household goods, and appliances.

For more information, please see IMGH-Refugee Services.

The United Methodist Committee on Relief (UMCOR) has several Advances dedicated toward refugee services. These include: Refugee Response #982540 and Language and Migrant Ministries: Germany #3020450

Every dollar donated to UMCOR goes to the specified program. All administrative costs are covered by the One Great Hour of Sharing offering. To donate via St. Paul’s, indicate UMCOR Advance number on the check.
