Attorneys: Train to Represent Detained Central Americans in Texas and New Mexico

Texas Annual Conference Center for Missional Excellence is providing free training to potential volunteer attorneys to represent Central Americans detained in Texas and New Mexico. The free training will be at St. Paul’s on Saturday, August 9, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. It is open to all qualified attorneys. Texas CLE credit may be earned, and a continental breakfast will be provided.

The training will cover the basics of the expedited removal process, the relevant legal standards, and practical tips for working with this population in a detention setting. Those volunteering will be referred to nonprofit organizations coordinating representation for indigent migrants at family detention centers in Texas and New Mexico.
