Get on the “inside track” about the the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo (HLSR) at the February 13 Salt and Light meeting when long-time volunteer and third-year vice president Glenn Lilie will speak.
The HLSR is the world’s largest livestock show in the world, and it takes 28,000 volunteers to make it successful. As HLSR officer in charge of Ranching and Wildlife, he has noted that “Our mission is to educate the public on the importance of our habitat and enhance their knowledge of native Texas wildlife species.”
A St. Paul’s member, Lilie also holds the record of owning 51 pair of custom-made Wheeler boots. “Whenever I am having a bad day, I go over to Wheeler and pick out another pair of boots.”
Maybe he’ll wear a pair and bring some others as he talks about his life with HLSR, which this year will be March 4-23.
Gather at 10:30 a.m. in Fondren Hall; the program is at 11. A $8 barbecue lunch will be served at noon to those who RSVP by February 11 to firstname.lastname@example.org or 713-528-0527.
