Covenant House Texas offers homeless and runaway youth a safe haven from the dangers of street life and abuse and also provides them with the necessary skills, training, and emotional support to choose positive life alternatives and develop into self-sufficient adults.
St. Paul’s Youth are holding their second Annual Sleep Out on the Bankston Green November 14-15 to raise awareness of the Covenant House Youth. The congregation and community are invited to participate between 6 and 10 p.m. Friday. Activities will include:
• Guest speakers from Covenant House who will share their first-hand experience with homelessness
• An art project
• Service of Holy Communion
St. Paul’s Youth will organize into “families,” barter for materials, and build shelters for the night. After the public portion of the evening, the Youth and chaperons will spend the night with their “families” on the lawn.
In addition to awareness, the Youth are raising $1,000 cash plus donations of job-interview clothing, toiletries, baby clothing and supplies.
This is the only Sleep Out for Covenant House not organized by them, and it will be recognized at their November 20 Candlelight Vigil and Rally.
