Welcome to St. Paul's United Methodist Church - Houston, Texas

Donna V. Adair

Director of Communications

Room S-208. Extension 30

Donna’s professional life was divided by twins. Prior to their birth she directed marketing and member communications for a five-state agricultural commodity program, was a regional shopping mall promotion director, taught communications at the college level, coordinated local training programs for the American Management Associations, and was a staff reporter for the Houston Business Journal and Arab News/Asharq al-Awsat plus contributor to numerous other publications throughout the world. She also owned with her husband The Writing Company through which she served corporate clients, including most of the major oil companies, by writing and producing newsletters, high-end brochures, and training/reference manuals. Topics of the manuals ranged from corporate communications standards to materials maintenance software for offshore oil and gas production platforms.

A lifelong Methodist, the birth of her twins brought her to St. Paul’s to enroll them in the school. She also curtailed her work with The Writing Company, spending more time in communications pursuits related to the twins’ lives, including two stints editing the St. Paul’s newspaper. She also was a Girl Scout leader and directed publicity for Poe Elementary, Lanier Middle School, and several area youth sports teams and leagues. From the twins’ middle-school years through college, after a period with a local public relations agency, most of her work was in employee and community communications with ARCO, then Lyondell, Chemical Company in Channelview.

The twins graduated from The University of Texas at Austin in 2006, and Donna is back at St. Paul’s where she is enjoying the opportunity to holistically apply her broad knowledge of and experience in marketing and community/member communications. She writes and produces the Bell Tower, St. Paul’s edition of the weekly United Methodist Reporter; produces most of the church’s brochures, advertising, and the Chimes, St. Paul's weekly e-letter; photographs most of the church’s events; develops publicity and community relations opportunities; and is on the Website team.

Donna holds a Bachelor of Journalism and a Bachelor of Science from The University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Science in communications from the University of Tennessee. She was the first female president of the Society of Professional Journalists/Sigma Delta Chi, Houston Chapter, and she also has been a member of the Public Relations Society of America, the International Association of Business Communicators, and various church communications organizations.

She is married to Art Adair, also a St. Paul’s member, and their twins are now both married, living in El Paso and Perth.
