Welcome to St. Paul's United Methodist Church - Houston, Texas

Lori Chidgey

Intern for Children, Youth, and Social Justice
Room S-203

Lori Chidgey is a Perkins School of Theology intern through December 2010 when she is scheduled to graduate magna cum laude with a master’s degree in urban church ministry.

During this period at St. Paul’s she will have responsibilities in the areas of children, youth, and social justice. Her particular passions within social justice are women and interfaith.

Reared in both Southern Baptist and United Methodist congregations, it was the Methodist church’s focus on outreach and work beyond the church that led to her decision to pursue seminary education.

Prior to that decision, she had been what her father termed “his corporate girl.” With a BBA in Finance from St. Edwards University, she spent 10 years in banking and commercial real estate.

While still in the corporate world, she spent much of her time volunteering with various non-profit organizations. She currently serves on the Board of Directors for Stoney Creek Foundation, an organization committed to providing underprivileged youth the opportunity to experience the beauty of God’s creation through life-changing camping adventures at their facility near Columbus, Texas.

St. Paul’s was the second church Lori visited when she moved to Houston in 2001. “I was immediately hooked,” she said. “St. Paul’s commitment to a variety of ways to express and experience God makes it feel like a true church home.”
