Books and Backpacks
Thanks to generous donations and volunteers, including many from St. Paul’s, the Emergency Aid Coalition last year distributed new backpacks, grade-appropriate school supplies, and school uniforms to 1,380 children.
Clients have been interviewed and qualified for this year’s distribution, and volunteers have been scheduled to sort and organize the school supplies during July.
The next steps are to fund this year’s distribution and to sign up volunteers who will help with the distribution, including welcoming the families as they wait.
This year’s distribution will be August 10-12. Volunteers will be needed most between 8:45 a.m. and noon on the 10th and 11th.
Each child will receive one new backpack, grade-appropriate school supplies, and a shoe voucher at an average total cost of $50 per child. The Assistance League will provide uniforms.
