St. Paul’s Choir has earned recognition for its commitment to quality traditional sacred music offered in liturgical Anglican-influenced worship. In addition to singing Sunday services at 8:30 am and 11:05 am, the Choir of 80-plus voices offers seasonal Lessons & Carols services, and Evensong services marking major feasts throughout the church year.
In a series of residencies bringing some of the world’s most distinguished church musicians to St. Paul’s, the choir has performed under the direction of Philip Moore (York Minster), Stephen Cleobury (King’s College, Cambridge), James O’Donnell (Westminster Abbey), Gerre Hancock (St. Thomas Church Fifth Avenue), Bruce Neswick (Trinity Cathedral, Portland), and John Scott (St. Paul’s Cathedral, London; later at St. Thomas Church Fifth Avenue), among others.
The group has performed at regional and national conventions of the America Choral Directors Association and the American Guild of Organists. At the national AGO convention in June, the choir will offer Evensong services with full orchestra. In performance with the Houston Ballet, the choir has performed Poulenc’s Gloria, Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé and Stravinsky’s Les Noces.
St. Paul’s Choir has served in residence at several English cathedrals (listed below).
